The Vision of the School
“To be a school of choice in Natural Resources Management, Agricultural, Land Administration and Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management in Namibia and the SADC region”
The Mission of the School
The school will endeavour to promote personal and academic advancement of students by imparting knowledge and skills (both hard and soft) required in the sustainable utilisation and management of natural resources and so contribute to sustained national economic growth and competitiveness.
With a modern student- friendly learning environment and an up-to-date curriculum and facilities, the school strives to provide the best learning experience to our students. We stress on blending theory and practice in all our programmes and this gives our graduates that extra quality that a progressive employer may require.
The school implements all this through academic programmes and research offered in the four academic departments of:
· Agriculture: Offering Bachelor and Bachelor (Hons) Degree in Agricultural Management
· Land Management: Offering Bachelor Degrees in Land Administration, Property Studies, Geomatics (Land Surveying), Geo-information Technology and Land Use Planning
· Nature Conservation; Offering a B.tech in Nature Conservation and a Post Graduate Certificate in CBNRM
· Hospitality and Tourism Management: offering a whole range of programmes in Hospitality and Tourism up to Bachelor’s level.
The school also offers an integrated master’s degree in integrated land management in modular form to allow the much needed flexibility to our working and international students.
Our programmes are geared towards national development imperatives embedded in Vision 2030 and implemented through national development plans. In addition, we strive to build capacity required to meet the regional transformation challenges such as poverty reduction, land reform, eco-tourism, sustainable agriculture and food security, environmental and ecological sustainability for sustainable socio-economic development.
As a school, we deliberately align our strategies and actions to make sure we remain relevant to our nation and the global society. We are engaged fully with the practical challenges of today through the Integrated Land Management Institute and the Agribusiness and Technology Development Centre. These two are our community and industrial outreach arms to provide technical, project management, contract research, pro-bono community and many other services of advisory in nature. We also collaborate a lot with international universities, development agencies research and development institutes as well as industrial organisations.
On behalf of the school, I would like to extend our invitation to you to come and engage us. We are just an email or phone call away.
